Public Sector Enterprise Agreement 2025
Its, time for RESPECT.
Public sector nurses and midwives are at their breaking point. Every day, we help South Australians through their most vulnerable moments but, right now, we are being pushed to the limit.
Respectful wages and safe working conditions aren’t just about fairness. They’re about recognising our value and ensuring there are enough nurses and midwives to deliver the care our communities deserve.
It’s all about #RESPECT — for the work we do, the people we care for, and the future of our health system.
What’s happened so far
he current agreement nominally expired on July 31, 2025. The ANMF (SA Branch) managed to secure a four per cent interim pay increase for members after existing pay rates lapsed at the start of the year, along with a two per cent administrative pay increase that will come into effect in October.
While the agreement remains in effect until a new one is reached, the urgency for change is growing.
We are currently negotiating the new agreement with SA Health. We are seeking a fair and competitive pay rise with improved conditions that reflects the true value of SA nurses and midwives.
On September 3, 2025, the state government tabled an offer that fell well short, both in pay and in addressing the conditions outlined in our Log of Claims.
On October 29, 2025, the state government tabled a revised offer that the ANMF (SA Branch) and its members unanimously rejected on the steps of State Parliament House the following day.
On February 4, 2026, the government delivered another offer that members rallied against the following day, expressing widespread dissatisfaction with the new proposal.
These offers have failed to meet the standards set by other states and territories and, more importantly, they have failed to show nurses and midwives the respect they deserve.
In lieu of a revised and respectful offer from the government, the ANMF (SA Branch) has resumed industrial action from May 18, 2026. Members have been encouraged to mobilise and join their peers to participate in the weekly escalation of action until an agreement is reached.
Log of Claims
Between October 2024 to March 2025, we visited every public hospital, held nearly 100 consultation sessions with members. The results is a
Log of Claims that reflects is what matters most to nurses and midwives’ on the ground.
Our critical priorities include:
• Attraction and retention of a skilled workforce
• Managing Fatigue and workloads
• Ensure safe Staffing levels
• Securing Competitive wages
Public sector nurses and midwives deserve pay and conditions that reflect the value of their tireless work and ongoing commitment to quality care. We must be values on par with our colleagues across the country, and not just to attract staff, but to retain our highly skilled nurses and midwives who keep the health system running.
This is about more than numbers.
It’s about respect.
It’s about care.
It’s about us.
