This week marked International Women’s Day. At the ANMF (SA Branch), we acknowledge the importance of the many achievements of women in the nursing and midwifery fields.
The theme of IWD for 2023 is #EmbraceEquity. We can all embrace equity, and create an inclusive world, by challenging gender stereotypes, calling out discrimination, drawing attention to bias, and seeking out inclusion.
“Women represent the vast majority of our nursing and midwifery professions,’’ ANMF (SA Branch) CEO/Secretary Adj Associate Professor Elizabeth Dabars AM said.
“The ANMF locally and nationally has long been an outspoken champion for women’s rights for equal pay, for equal opportunity – and for legislation that improves women's status and wellbeing, including 10 days’ paid Family and Domestic Violence Leave which came into effect last month.
“In Australia we have made significant advances, but there is still more to be done.’’
ANMF (SA Branch) will continue to advocate for improvements that benefit all members.
