$1m for training of 76 specialty nurses

17 March 2022

Labor has committed to a raft of new health policies, including investing $1 million to train 76 specialty nurses, among the 300 extra nurses the party intends to employ across the state. The nurses will provide extra support in specialty areas, including the Epilepsy Centre.

Labor says it also plans to more than double the standard number of graduate paramedics and increase student placements at SA Ambulance Service to train the next generation of South Australia's paramedics – and help fix the ramping crisis.

The graduate positions are part of its plan to recruit an extra 350 ambos over four years.

Labor has also pledged to support three 24-hour pharmacies across Adelaide to provide medication when needed and reduce pressure on emergency departments and help fix the ramping crisis.
