Vote this week for Action for Health

16 March 2022

This week's state election presents an opportunity for members, indeed all South Australian voters, to demand action for our health care system.

We have scored the major parties that could form government against the major planks of our own Health Policy Statement released last July.

One party, the Liberal Party, has rejected all 4 actions that we sought. There is no agreement to create capacity within our public hospitals needed to end ramping, there is no agreement to legislate staff ratios that protect patient care and safety, there is no agreement to maintain public ownership of health services and there is no agreement on implementation of measures needed to guarantee safe and dignified care, particularly to older South Australians.

Labor on the other hand has given detailed commitments on each of these policy asks. They have committed themselves to legislate for ratios, they have promised and budgeted for additional beds and capacity and they have vowed to end privatisation and assure pubic ownership.

The Greens and SA Best have given similar assurances if their candidates are successful in the vote for upper house (the Legislative Council) this week.

Make sure that your vote goes to a party that will take Action for Health
