State Labor is ramping up its pre-election pledge to fix ramping, promising 350 extra paramedics and ambulances officers, 36 more ambulances and five new ambulance stations, one of them incorporated within a $120 million new ambo headquarters in Adelaide’s CBD.
In addition to the ambulance pledge, Labor says it will commit $80 million to boost mental health resources for children, including 10 extra mental health beds for the new Women’s and Children’s Hospital, mental health teams for schools and another 15 child psychiatrists and psychologists throughout the state.
The 350 new ambos commitment comprises 278 paramedics and 72 ambulance officers, to be recruited over the next four years as part of a plan to slash ramping and improve emergency response times.
Labor says its plan includes eight extra 24/7 metropolitan emergency crews, comprising 128 paramedics, three more 24/7 metro Emergency Support Crews, with 36 additional ambulance officers, and 151 paramedics and ambulance officers recruited across regional SA.
