Get Up! Stand Up! Show Up! for NAIDOC Week

30 June 2022

National NAIDOC Week starts this Sunday (July 3 to July 10) with activities and events held across Australia to celebrate and recognise the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

NAIDOC Week is an opportunity for all Australians to learn about First Nations cultures and histories and participate in celebrations of the oldest, continuous living cultures on earth.
This year’s theme is Get Up! Stand Up! Show Up!

NAIDOC Week organisers say: “We all must continue to Get Up! Stand Up! Show Up! for systemic change and keep rallying around our mob, our Elders, our communities.

“Whether it’s seeking proper environmental, cultural and heritage protections, Constitutional change, a comprehensive process of truth-telling, working towards treaties, or calling out racism—we must do it together.

“It must be a genuine commitment by all of us to support and secure institutional, structural, collaborative, and cooperative reforms.’’

The ANMF (SA Branch) supports National NAIDOC week, and we encourage our members to get involved and embrace the celebrations throughout the week.
