Annual Delegates Conference – a showcase of what we have achieved together in 2021/22

21 October 2022

The significant achievements and gains made for our 23,000 members – and for all nurses, midwives and care workers – during 2021/22 were celebrated during this week’s Annual Delegates Conference.

Our campaigning power during both State and Federal elections and ongoing advocacy was a key focus when ANMF (SA Branch) CEO/Secretary Adj Associate Professor Elizabeth Dabars AM delivered her annual report at Ridleyton on Wednesday.

“Due to our campaigning, political parties came to office at both State and Federal levels supporting our agenda in health investment, workforce and aged care reform,” Ms Dabars said.

“It is up to us to now hold them to account for their commitments – and we will do just that.”

Ms Dabars also shared the positive outcomes which support members, the access and growth of important resources and recognition of members' rights through EBAs and individual representations.

In the past year, we have had a strong media presence, allowing us to advocate for issues and causes relevant to nursing and midwifery.

While the ADC had a year-in-review focus, there was also an opportunity to look to the future.

Executive Director, Operations and Strategy, Rob Bonner received a standing ovation for his more than 30 years of outstanding service to the ANMF (SA Branch).

For the past six months Mr Bonner and his team have been negotiating the new public sector Enterprise Agreement – the current offer was outlined at the conference and presented to delegates.

Premier Peter Malinauskas and Health Minister Chris Picton were special guests, with Mr Malinauskas recommitting to our Health Policy Position Statement, followed by an opportunity for the delegates to ask the Premier and Health Minister questions.

Ms Dabars said she was delighted to showcase for our delegates the brilliant work that has been achieved working together for the benefit of health and aged care.

“By working together, we are stronger and able to influence decision makers in ways that are both beneficial to the health workforce and the community at large,” Ms Dabars said.

“I look forward to continuing to work with you, and for you. We are stronger together.”
