Aged Care Registered Nurses’ Payment

24 November 2022

Registered Nurses working in aged care are now eligible for a Government payment of up to $6000.

Aged care providers have until December 14, 2022, to apply for the Aged Care Registered Nurses’ Payment on behalf of eligible RNs.

The payment is available to RNs working in residential aged care, in-home care and Commonwealth Home Support Programme settings.

RNs seeking to discuss the Aged Care Registered Nurses’ Payment with their employer can get more information at www.grants.gov.au or through the Department of Health and Aged Care website here.

“Registered Nurses play a critical role in the care of elderly Australians and it is vital that they are recognised and rewarded for their efforts if we are to retain and boost their numbers,’’ ANMF (SA Branch) CEO/Secretary Adj Associate Professor Elizabeth Dabars AM said.

“Aged care providers should apply on behalf of their eligible Registered Nurses as soon as possible.

“The ANMF (SA Branch) recognises the importance of everyone who works in aged care, be they Registered Nurses, Enrolled Nurses or Personal Care Workers, and we will continue to push the case for a significant pay rise for all aged care workers through the Fair Work Commission.''

The full Aged Care Registered Nurses’ Payment should be passed onto staff as soon as possible. The Department of Health and Aged Care will conduct audits throughout the grants process and require evidence of payment to eligible RNs.
