Congratulations to ANMF (SA Branch) Executive Director, Operations, Rob Bonner, winner of the National Outstanding Achievement in the VET and Skills Sector Award at the Australian Training Awards.
This award recognises an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to the VET and skills sector and contributed a new innovation, knowledge or practice to the sector.
The Australian Training Awards are the peak national awards that showcase best practice in vocational education and training (VET). This year’s awards were held in Adelaide on Friday, November 18.
Mr Bonner’s distinguished and influential service within the VET and skills sector spans 32 years.
During this time, Mr Bonner has made an outstanding contribution to the advancement of VET practice and skills, development through expert advice, the publication of research papers, Training Package reform and the design and implementation of innovative teaching and learning programs.
“I am surprised and thrilled to have been awarded the 2022 Outstanding Achievement Award at this year’s Australian Training Awards,’’ Mr Bonner said.
“It was an honour to be recognised for my work in the VET and skills sector over the last three decades in South Australia, and nationally, and particularly to receive this prestigious award here in South Australia where I spent my career dedicated to improving education and career outcomes especially in the areas of aged care, nursing and midwifery.
“Thank you to all the judges and to the organisers of the Australian Training Awards. Thanks also to my colleagues in the Australian Union movement that have supported and enriched my work,’’ Mr Bonner said.
“And if you’re studying or teaching vocational education and training or supporting your employees to do so, I encourage you to nominate for next year’s South Australian Training Awards, when they come around.’’
ANMF (SA Branch) CEO/Secretary Adj Associate Professor Elizabeth Dabars AM said the award was a fitting recognition for Mr Bonner’s contribution to vocational education.
“On behalf of everyone at the ANMF (SA Branch) I would like to congratulate Rob on this wonderful achievement,” Ms Dabars said.
“He has been the cornerstone of the ANMF (SA Branch) for years and his expertise in the VET and skills sector is second to none.
“His vision and planning has certainly shaped the training opportunities and the type of education nurses and midwives enjoy in South Australia.”
