The ANMF (SA Branch) has been invited to provide feedback on the public consultation on amendments to mandate the use of ScriptCheckSA.

On behalf of the ScriptCheckSA Governance Board (SGB), the ScriptCheckSA Project Team, Drugs of Dependence Unit is hosting a Public Consultation on the proposed changes to the Controlled Substances (Poisons) Regulations 2011 that are necessary to mandate the use of SA’s Real-Time Prescription Monitoring system, ScriptCheckSA in early 2022.

ScriptCheckSA was released in March 2021 and helps to address prescription forgery, misuse, and doctor-shopping in South Australia by providing prescribers and pharmacists with real-time information about their patients’ access to monitored drugs so that they can make safer clinical decisions about which medicines to prescribe or supply.

The purpose of this Public Consultation is to seek feedback on the amendments required to mandate the use of ScriptCheckSA and additional amendments to ensure that monitored drug data is more complete.

The amendments are presented in the Controlled Substances (Poisons) (Miscellaneous) Variation Regulations 2021 and further detail is included in the supporting Consultation Paper .

Further detail is available on the SA Health Reviews and Consultation Webpage.

The ANMF (SA Branch) is preparing a response to the ScriptCheckSA Project Team, and we invite members to review the Consultation Paper and provide feedback which we will take into consideration when preparing our response.

Please provide any feedback to [email protected] by COB Friday 22 October 2021.
