Walk For Justice For Refugees On Sunday 14 April

3 April 2019

Are you among the majority of Australians opposed to the continuing detention of refugees on Manus and Nauru—these people are now in their sixth year in offshore detention!

Did you know there are also approximately 30,000 refugees are in our community on temporary visas with their futures in limbo. Many families have been separated by the harsh system, and people despair of ever being reunited. Many lack access to education and citizenship and fear being deported to danger.

For obvious reasons, the theme of this year’s Palm Sunday March from Victoria Square to Parliament House is I CHOOSE HUMANE and is calling for:

  • An end to offshore detention and processing
  • Replacement of temporary visas with a pathway to permanency and citizenship
  • Repeal the cuts to Status Resolution Support Services (SRSS) payments

Join other ANMF (SA Branch) members to support this cause:

WHEN:          2pm-3.30pm on Sunday 14 April
(or arrive from 1pm to see the Safe Harbour art project set up in Victoria Square)

WHERE:         Starting at the southern half of Victoria Square for walk to Parliament House

Last year’s Palm Sunday walk attracted more than 2,000 people and was endorsed by 34 different organisations. Together we can make a difference and signal that there is strong support for a more humane and compassionate policy.

Bring your family, friends, and workmates, banners and signs.
