Repat Concept Master Plan: Update

2 May 2019

After seeking further information from the Minister for Health and Wellbeing on the plan for reactivating the Repat site, the ANMF (SA Branch) has received correspondence from the Minister with an update.

In our letter to Minister Wade, we reconfirmed our broad support of the plans to use the site for rehabilitation services and for care for older people and those in need of subacute care but sought further detail on his announcements around additional subacute and transition care, particularly those directed to meet the needs of older people and others waiting for disability support and care.

In his response, the Minister says “a range of opportunities are now being explored through ongoing negotiations with non-government organisations and partners, including the outcome of a Request
for Proposals for surgical and procedural services.”

He goes on to say that “the collection of services provided at the Repat site will reduce demand on the acute hospitals, enabling them to focus on the acute patient needs, including enhancing the flow from our hospital emergency departments.
