Flinders Private Hospital service change due to closure of maternity unit

4 September 2019

Due to the closure of the Flinders Private Hospital’s maternity unit, the service of Level 4 is changing on 17 September. Consultation has occurred in relation to the service changes and ANMF (SA Branch) feedback was provided to management. Management have provided a response however it is not detailed.

Following the receipt of correspondence from Flinders Private Hospital (FPH) management, the ANMF met with members on 5 July 2019 to discuss the proposed changes to Level 4 services and ward layouts.

The ANMF continues to have concerns over the proposed changes in service for 4 North and 4 South. Concerns relate to the staffing model of care for each ward, the increase in bed numbers, and the requirement for professional development and upskilling.

Members are encouraged to read all correspondence provided via a Worksite Bulletin and provide feedback by this Friday 6 September to [email protected]

As changes are rolled out, any concerns with new staffing models, the increase in beds or the provision of the paediatric service should be immediately alerted to the ANMF (SA Branch) Duty Officer on 8334 1900.
