Develop your confidence and capacity to lead and represent your fellow First Nations workers

The ACTU is facilitating a specialised, intensive courses for Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander delegates. To be held in Adelaide from 11 to 15 November, the five-day program will be facilitated by ACTU Indigenous Educator and Organiser Wayne Costelloe to: 
 

  • Increase participants' awareness of issues that affect First Nations workers;
  • Examine the history of First Nations workers' roles with unions in Australia;
  • Increase participants’ engagement with the union movement;
  • Provide skills and knowledge that boost participants' confidence to act as workplace union leaders; and
  • Develop participants' understanding of strategies for effective engagement with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander union members.
