Consultation: Building self-sufficiency of Regional Local Health Networks

6 December 2019

SA Health has commenced a formal consultation process to obtain feedback on a proposed revised design for the Rural Support Service (RSS).

The proposal, which is set out in a consultation paper, Building Self-sufficiency of Regional LHNs, is intended to build on the previous design implemented on 1 July this year to establish the regional Local Health Networks and RSS. SA Health has advised the revised design aims to ensure the appropriate alignment of functions in the regional LHNs and RSS over the coming years to enable the regional LHNs to function successfully and independently, with each having a strong local voice, accountability, a skilled workforce and safe service provision.

The proposal was developed by the Management Oversight Committee and endorsed by the governing board chairs of the regional LHNs for consultation purposes.

Following consultation on the proposed revised design, SA Health has advised further consultation will take place on the detailed designs of specific functions, including how they will be implemented in a phased approach over the coming years.
